We are currently seeking to add two experienced individuals to our Direct Lending team at Associate Director level.

The Direct Lending team focus on making investments into senior secured loans to mid-market borrowers.

The team has successfully invested capital raised from institutional investors for its first vintage and has a good line of sight on raising a second vintage for the UK, as well as expanding its focus to invest on a pan-European basis.

The team work in partnership with HSBC Bank who are a leading provider of debt to mid-market private equity sponsor owned businesses and the team will continue to benefit from access to this origination pipeline.


The role holders will have relevant prior experience and will be capable of leading the evaluation and execution of new investment opportunities as well as monitoring the performance of portfolio companies.


In this role, you will:

  • Lead assessment and analysis of private credit transactions for recommendation to Investment Committee and the ongoing monitoring of portfolio.
  • For new transactions the role holder will review information memorandum, business plans, third party due diligence reports (financial, commercial, legal and tax structuring reports) and other bespoke diligence (ESG, etc), and build/ test assumptions of financial models provided.
  • Management of transaction documentation process to ensure that investments are completed in an efficient manner.
  • Have ongoing oversight of investments post completion including oversight of any investments showing signs of stress or distress.
  • Coach junior team members to ensure sharing of best practices and continued technical development on modelling, credit analysis, legal terms, etc.
  • Help to promote the direct lending capability to sales teams. Help prepare generic or adhoc marketing documents for fundraising. Assist in the production of adhoc research papers for marketing purposes.
  • Build strong relationships with financial sponsors, advisers, management teams and CMB (Commercial Banking) origination professionals to best position Asset Management funds for transactions.
Requirements

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Significant experience gained in private credit, direct lending, leveraged finance or direct investment.
  • Strong analytical skills including working with financial models and an understanding of the fundamentals of investment appraisal.
  • A strong level of commercial acumen and awareness, including of economic, cultural, procedural and regulatory issues of business.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to build strong working relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Able to evidence relationships with financial sponsors, advisers and corporates.
  • Strong communication skills, including written, verbal, and the ability to deliver compelling presentations to people at all levels within the business
  • A desire to work as part of a team where success is collective and people work together closely to achieve objectives
  • Selfmotivated individual with a strong work ethic, who is proactive and an analytical thinker.
  • A strong interest in business including a desire to understand different business models, strategy, the dynamics at work in different industries.
  • Relevant qualifications such as the IMC, CFA, ACCA/ACA would be desirable
  • Experience of working in a direct lending fund would be desirable
  • European languages desirable.
