Who Are We?
Criminal Fines Collection and Enforcement (Enforcement) is a key function within HM Courts and Tribunal Service (HMCTS). Enforcement employs approximately 1,500 staff across 50 locations in England and Wales.
We are responsible for making sure convicted parties comply with fines and other financial penalties imposed by the criminal courts.
This department is also responsible for compliance with Confiscation Orders imposed by the Crown Courts and the payment of Fixed Penalty tickets issued by police forces.
Key purpose of the role
Duties may include:
- Ensure Governance and Assurance around the safe and secure receipt, accounting and transfer of both money and personal data
Including:
- Completion of financial returns
- Auditing all financial movements undertaken within the office including BAC's requests, Cheques printed and financial adjustments
- Completing Key Control Checks on work undertaken and Service Assurance Frameworks
- Providing financial evidence/information for Assurance & Governance when requested
- Authorisation of all court fee's taken and auditing of bank reconciliations
- Lead a team ensuring that its organised, and fully skilled to meet all work objectives. Effectively managing both team and individual performance, addressing any issues as they arise, in line with HR policy.
- Manage and plan the workload of the team ensuring they provide excellent customer service to all stakeholders, Judiciary and management
- Conduct regular and consistent performance reviews in line with HMCTS performance framework
- Ensure the risk management system and standards are applied by all staff in line with HMCTS/MOJ policy.
- Provide statistical data for the management team and Judiciary.
- Monitor key performance areas, analysing performance trends and making recommendations for improvement
- Contribute to the delivery of operational, performance and service standard targets.
- Contribute to the business plan, with particular focus on the team's area of work.
