What You'll be Doing Each Day:

An ATA Carnet is an international customs document that permits the tax-free and duty-free temporary export and import of non-perishable goods for up to one year - it's also often referred to as the "Passport for Commercial Goods.

"


The role of the Carnet Claims Officer is to ensure that any claims for Carnets issued are dealt with in a timely and effective manner.

Although not necessarily dealing with the entire Claim itself, the role will be working with the NGO (National GuaranteeOrganisation) to ensure that they receive all relevant information regarding the Claim to prevent the claims themselves progressing to Foreign or UK Customs.


The role will involve organising the ATA Carnets in the Office and ensuring they're always filed and archived correctly, as well as supporting the Trade Documentation team with Discharging the Carnets.

As a result, working to a strict timetable, adherenceto systems and attention to detail are critical.

The job holder will be initially trained to issue ATA Carnets so that they gain a good understanding of what happens at the pre-issue stage.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Monitor UK Issued Carnet Claims
  • Once trained to process ATA Carnets track Carnet issuing and flag up any process risks
  • Regularise and discharge Carnets as appropriate
  • Take ownership of the Filing and Archiving of ATA Carnets to a high Audit standard
  • Resolve service delivery issues and complaints quickly and effectively recommending improvements and escalating where appropriate.
  • Ensure processes and activities are fully compliant with protocols and legislation including data protection and marketing communications.
  • Demonstrate flexible and adaptable approach to business needs at any given time
  • Contribute to a motivated, respected and highly knowledgeable team of professionals focussed on overall success of the team

The Skills You'll Need to Succeed:

  • Ability to issue/knowledge of ATA Carnets would be a big plus
  • Familiarity with basic international trade procedures and shipping documentation
  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Credit control experience a plus.
  • Solid experience of outbound calling
  • Good written communication skills
  • Accuracy and good attention to detail
  • Strong organisational, time management and prioritisation skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of accounting practices is a bonus.
