Open-ended (Permanent)
**Full-time, 35 hours per week


The Opportunity:

The School of Biological Sciences is seeking an experienced administrator to join our busy Staffing Team.


We are a friendly team of four, providing a comprehensive local HR administration service, liaising between the School and central University HR teams to support the School's research, teaching and administrative activities.

The Staffing Administrator plays a key role in administering our staff recruitment and supporting the Staffing Team Leader with a broad range of HR/staffing duties.


To be successful in this role you will need to be able to explain policies and procedures to staff at all levels, and have excellent communication skills and a strong customer focus.

As well as being a team player, you will be able to prioritise your own work-load, display a high standard of attention to detail and ability to use initiative.

You will need good time management skills and proven ability to meet tight deadlines whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

You will ideally be able to demonstrate prior HR administration experience.


Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Customer service skills and a commitment to excellent customer service and continuous improvement. Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain a professional, tactful and helpful demeanour. Experience of handling confidential information.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to communicate information clearly, and deal with a wide range of people.
  • Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to plan and prioritise work in a busy environment in order to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Receptiveness and flexibility to new ideas and approaches. Resilience and the ability to adapt to change.
