Planning Aid England Coordinator, permanent, part time 4 days per week, £32,812.50 pro rata per annum, London based including a blend of home and office working

We shape planning policy, raise professionalstandards and are the only body in the UK to confer Chartered status to planners, the highest professional qualification.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the RTPI's Planning Aid England service.


Planning Aid England (PAE) provides planning advice and support to help individuals and communities engage with the planning system and get involved in planning their local area.

We work closely with volunteers - all of whom are members of the Institute
- to deliver a range of services that support more effective engagement with the planning process.


Reporting to the PAE Manager, and part of a small, friendly staff team, you will support day-to-day service delivery and be responsible of a range of operational and communication activities that support successful volunteer involvement in PAE services.

You will work closely with colleagues to increase awareness of PAE services amongst particular audiences (e.g. local planning authorities), with a view to growing opportunities for PAE volunteers to assist communities in more economically disadvantaged areasengage with planning activities in their local area.

In 2023 we will be celebrating 50 years of the service and the post will also be involved in delivering aspects of our work programme to mark this anniversary.


You will be well organised with good communications skills and will have experience in project or programme administration including organising meetings, coordinating events and other activities, building relationships with stakeholders, and supporting marketingand comms activities.

It would be an advantage if you have experience in working with volunteers. You will be comfortable working both collaboratively and independently, with the ability to manage your workload effectively.

The post will be based from our London Office, with the opportunity for flexible working arrangements.
