Part time hours. Fixed term for 6 months


The Berkshire Coroner's Service is looking to recruit an administrator on a 6-month fixed term basis to provide essential administrative support to the coroner's service team.

The Coroners Service investigates sudden, violent and unnatural deaths across Berkshire.

Hosted by Reading Borough Council, the service has its central offices based in Reading Town Hall which includes a dedicated facility for audio/video inquest hearings.


About the role


We are looking for applicants with experience of working in a busy office environment and using multiple IT packages to join our team.

You will be responsible for day-to-day administrative tasks, including data entry, maintenance of office equipment and stationery and responding to incoming correspondence.

You will also be responsible for carrying out financial administration; liaising with suppliers, setting up purchase orders and processing invoices.

About you

The following experience is required for this role:

  • Office based administration experience, working in a complex and fast paced, changing environment
  • Experience of using Microsoft products with significant amounts of word processing in order to produce wellpresented work; efficiently, quickly and to a high standard
  • Experience using accounts packages
  • Experience of working under pressure and meeting ever changing tasks, priorities and deadlines
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with a broad range of organisations including members of the public, police, hospitals and medical staff
  • Experience of working as part of a team and on own initiative with mínimal supervision and meeting expected delivery schedules
