Consultant in Colorectal and General Surgery with interest in joint Endometriosis surgery
Croydon Health Services Trust provides a broad range of elective and emergency services to a population of almost 400,000 across the borough of Croydon and delivered across Croydon University Hospital (450-bed inpatient) and Purley War Memorial Hospital (outpatient).
The department wishes to appoint a substantive Consultant in Colorectal and General Surgery with interest and experience in provision of joint Endometriosis surgery.
Experience in robotic surgery and establishment of a robotic surgical service, as well as a relevant research portfolio and higher degree, are desirable.
Applicants should also demonstrate experience in management responsibilities.This post forms part of a department of seven Colorectal consultants with a diverse range of subspecialty interests and the post-holder will participate in a 1:10 on-call.
Applicants should either already be on the Specialist Register of the General Medical Council (GMC), or within six months of eligibility to be included, and hold a license to practice.
Croydon Health Services provides integrated NHS services to care for people at home, in schools, and health clinics across the borough as well as at Croydon University Hospital (CUH) and Purley War Memorial Hospital.
CUH provides more than 100 specialist services and is home to the borough's only Emergency Department and 24/7 maternity services, including a labour ward, midwifery-led birth centre and the Crocus home-birthing team.
Purley War Memorial Hospital (PWMH) in the south of the borough offers outpatient care, including diagnostic services, physiotherapy and ophthalmology services run by Moorfields Eye Hospital, alongside an onsite GP surgery.
Our experienced district nursing teams, Allied Health Professionals and community matrons look after people of all ages across Croydon and our Children's Hospital at Home cares for children with long-term conditions without them having to come to hospital.
It would be expected that the appointee will undertake a minimum of 8.5 programmed activities for direct clinical care (DCC) and 1.5 for supporting duties (SPA).
Normally SPA are expected to be carried out on site, though this may be negotiable in respect of the supporting activities.
The Trust supports the requirements for continuing professional development (CPD) as laid down by the GMC and surgical colleges and is committed to providing time and financial support for these activities.
There is a commitment to review the job plan within 1 year of appointment to consider allowance for additional SPA if required and as per local Trust consultant job planning policy.
