We are expanding our team to recruit either a qualified Advanced Clinical Practitioner or Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner post who is within 3 months of completing their qualification (under annex 21) to join our Emergency Department working at both Southport and Ormskirk Hospitals.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to expand our Advanced Clinical Practitioner team working across the Emergency Departments.


You will be responsible for providing a high standard of care using advanced autonomous clinical skills, providing appropriate education and advice for informed decision-making regarding treatment, and delivering patient centred care.


The successful post holders will join our established team of ACPs and Physician Associates who work alongside our junior rotational doctors on the Tier 1 rota.


The department runs a full shift rota with a range of shifts, which includes late shift, night shift and weekend working.


The shifts will predominantly be based at Southport hospital in our Adult ED, but will also have rostered shifts our Paediatric ED based at Ormskirk Hospital.


We are an established, dynamic experienced team who are friendly, forward thinking and fully committed to developing knowledge and skills.


A commitment to a quality services in clinical practice, putting patients first, patient safety and continuous professional development within the four pillars of advanced practice are integral to the role.

The post holders will act within their professional boundaries and will be expected to be a Non-Medical Prescriber.


The postholders will see patients independently, and make autonomous decisions in the clinical and diagnostic assessment of patients attending the Emergency Department.

Previous experience in advanced clinical practice is essential.

You will be expected to influence all related aspects of care and management of patients.


You must be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of healthcare professionals and be enthusiastic and committed to making a difference, with a focus on improving practice through ongoing personal and professional development.

You will be directly responsible to the clinicians and the Associate Director of Nursing.


Advanced Practitioners will be expected to actively drive and enhance improvement in patient pathways, identify evidenced based changes in practice and lead on improvement projects that directly influence the patient experience and we will fully support you to do that.
