Job overview

This is cross site post, the postholder will be required to work across site as the Team Leader requires.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities


To work as part of the Theatre Patient Escort reception team and the wider multidisciplinary team, providing an efficient and effective patient movement service within the Theatre directorate.


The post holder will also be responsible for the transportation of items required for immediate patient care, including items such as medical gases, specimens, blood, medication and equipment.


The post holder will be trained in house in all aspects of patient escorting/reception and will be expected to carry out their duties adhering to all trust policies and procedures.

Person specification


Qualifications:

Essential criteria

  • Ability to undertake all training sessions required to undertake the role of Patient Escort, e.g. back care, moving and handling, infection prevention, fire training and BLS
Desirable criteria

  • GCSE or equivalent in literacy & numeracy
Experience

Essential criteria

  • Ability to understand and adhere to working practices for providing a Patient Escort Service (e.g. transfer of patients, medical gases, specimens, blood, management of heavier patients)
Desirable criteria

  • Previous experience in a Health Care setting
Communication and Relationship skills

Essential criteria

  • Able to communicate clearly in verbal and written format ( must have basic numeracy & literacy skills)
  • Understands and practices the principles of confidentiality
Desirable criteria

  • Demonstration of team working and ability to work in team

Salary:
The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
