The primary purpose of the post holder will be to provide high-quality administrative support as part of the Postgraduate Medical Education team which manages a range of training programmes and education support for all junior doctors and a range of other medical roles across Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust.


This role will include recruitment and employment checks, induction, timetabling, course/programme administration, assessment/feedback, communication with stakeholders, organising and minute taking for departmental meetings and ensuring the smooth running of a range of educational activities across a number of programmes and venues.


  • Liaising with Clinical Service Leads, Operational Managers and Practice Managers to support the recruitment and induction of new medical staff to the Trust: Locally-Employed Doctors and Fellows, Medical Support Workers, Physician Associates, Anaesthetic Associates, Doctors Assistants;
  • Keeping uptodate records of junior doctors and medical staff, inc. supervisors, rotations, generic work schedules, contracts, assessments and mandatory training;
  • Ensuring the successful delivery of postgraduate medical education at the Trust, including: booking teaching sessions, liaison with tutors and Education Leads, summarising feedback for trainers, production of teaching certificates for tutors, liaison with tutors.

The Medical Education team is part of the Education Directorate at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust - based in the Horizon Centre at Torbay Hospital - and is responsible for the management, delivery and administration of postgraduate and undergraduate programmes as well as wider education, pastoral and wellbeing support for all medical students and medical staff.


There is very much a collegial culture within the directorate with two distinct teams who support undergraduate and postgraduate programmes but importantly support each other.

The work in the department is varied, fast-paced, dynamic, and often requires updates to systems and processes which relate to the implementation of national policies.
