Brand and Trademark assistant required to work for my prestigious client in the heart of Cambridge._
Full time
Temporary for 6 months starting ASAP
Hybrid working 1-2 days in the office


The Role
This role supports and deputises for the Head of Brand and Trademark
The Head of Brand and Trademark is responsible for controlling appropriate and consistent use of the organisations name and logo and for maintaining the Trade Mark portfolio

This role will manage the brand protection function within the Office handling all enquiries relating to appropriate use of the brand.

The role holder will provide advice and make decisions on the majority of questions escalating to the Head of Brand and Trademark,legal services, senior management, departments and external agencies where necessary.

The role will also maintain evidential records and act as secretary to the trade mark management


Key Responsibilities
Brand Management

  • Manage all enquiries relating to the use and misuse of the organisations brand
  • Respond to all enquiries in line with policies and procedures
  • Research all use requests and infringements seeking advice from the Head of Brand and Trademark, Legal Services, external trade mark attorneys, heads of departments and design team where necessary
  • Make decisions on what requires escalation to senior management or legal and write briefings for referrals
  • Monitor and analyse requests making recommendations for changes and exceptions to policies and procedures where appropriate
  • Coordinate termly meetings of the Brand Protection Strategy Group and monthly meetings of the working Sub Group
  • Coordinate Trade Mark actions with members of the group
  • Instruct TM Attorneys on behalf of the group
  • Take minutes and distribute papers and briefings
  • Undertake research and collation of research for evidence
  • Manage, process and report costs
  • Keep records of actions
  • Report on activities of the group to senior management
  • Manage the issuing of royalty free licences to external organisations wishing to use the brand for noncommercial purposes
  • Liaise with heads of departments and the research operations office to verify collaborations
  • Agree use permissions and timescales and draft licences accordingly
  • Coordinate signature
  • Maintain records
  • Support the Head of Brand and Trademark, Director of Communications and consulting external agencies with research, administration, project planning and budget management
  • Maintain records
of all trade mark actions, brand use infringements and approvals to evidential standards

  • Maintain a database of all intelligence, actions and outcomes in line with GDPR legislation
  • Maintain records
of case costs and expenditure

  • Manage the brand office taking responsibility for office resourcing and systems, policies and procedures and financial control and planning
