Full-time (35 hours per week)

Fixed-term contract (12 months)


We are looking for an experienced postdoctoral research associate in heterogeneous biocatalysis to join a newly funded research project at the University of Edinburgh in collaboration with an industrial partner, focussed on the design of new biocatalytic systems for sustainable chemical production.


This post is advertised as full-time (35 hours per week), however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns.

We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.


The Opportunity:


The post will involve a unique combination of chemistry, biochemical and process biotechnology aspects in close collaboration with a SME in Scotland.

As such the post will be especially suited to recent PhD level graduates in biocatalysis with experience in enzyme immobilisation methods.


Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Experience in the optimisation of heterogeneous biocatalytic reactions
  • Experience in molecular biology methods
  • Experience in the use of HPLC and GC
  • Experience collaborating with industry
