Financial Controller
We are very excited to be partnering with a start-up business based in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey who are looking for a qualified accountant to join them as Financial Controller on a permanent basis.
This job would suit a qualified accountant with a minimum of 10 years' post qualification experience at a senior level.
They will be accountable for the compliance and accurate reporting of the accounts, business finances, regulatory requirements and thedevelopment and management of the finance team.
This company is a global freight business who is backed by a serial successful entrepreneur who already has successful businesses in very similar industries.
Job responsibilities:
- Accountable for the preparation and presentation of accurate and timely management accounts and other information including weekly, monthly financial reporting and forecasting.
- Overall management responsibility for the Finance Team. Ensuring KPIs, appraisal, performance management and development are consistently delivered for the Team.
- Accountable for the overall accurate processing of all financial information, accurate input onto system and liaison from the Finance department to all areas of the business and regulatory bodies as required.
- Accountable for working closely with the Chief Financial Officer, COO and Directors.
- Effectively identify and solve accounting and reporting issues.
- In conjunction with the CFO, define and continually improve financial processes and internal controls.
- Subsequently be accountable for the accurate reporting and monitoring compliance with those internal controls.
- Identify and implement system Dynamics enhancements to improve efficiency throughout Finance.
- Accountable for producing enhanced budgeting and forecasting systems to improve targeting and commercial focus.
- In conjunction with the CFO and other management generate the forecasts/budget/long term plan within defined cycles.
- In conjunction with the CFO and treasury function establish and utilise a liquidity monitoring and forecast ability in the business.
- Oversee external parties in the yearend statutory audit and corporate tax work to final submissions.
- In conjunction with HR and outside payroll bureau, ensure payroll processing and associated tax/pension matters are correctly resolved to include BiKs reporting.
- Ensure the business meets its VAT process and reporting obligations.
- Be aware of and provide general taxation advice (VAT, corporate, payroll) to the business so it meets its obligations and works as tax efficiency as possible.
- Responsible for insurances compliance.
- Ad hoc reporting to be completed on a regular basis.
- Ad hoc project work and cost analysis and reduction reviews.
- Preparation of presentations for Directors.
- Assist the CFO with Financial projects if required
