About the team & role:


GCC is committed to ensuring that all students are able to access education and will continue to meet all its statutory duties which are outlined in the Education Act 1996, Education and Inspections Act 2006, Home to School Travel and Transport Guidance and Home to School Travel for Pupils Requiring Special Arrangements Guidance.


Your role within the team will assist GCC to fulfil its statutory obligations in ensuring we provide appropriate Home to School travel assistance to children and young people with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND).


As a Senior Officer you will support the Leads Officer's in ensuring effective travel arrangements are made to enable access to education for those children and young people with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities who need support.

This will be achieved by providing safe and appropriate arrangements which meet the needs of individual children and young people which offer best value for money - with a focus on personalisation and providing opportunities to develop young people's travel independence and skills for the future.


About you:


We are looking for someone with excellent communication and organisational skills to use their own initiative, to identify needs and to achieve positive outcomes for young people with SEND and their travel needs.


You will work in an environment where your customer serve skills are key to working co-operatively; with children's services, health agencies, schools, families, and other transport-based services, to provide the most effective service for children, young people, and families with SEND in our community.


Taking responsibility for assisting Lead Officers in planning and coordinating the best possible travel solutions for the needs of the individual children and young people, including a strong emphasis on the administration of Personal Transport Allowances.

Previous experience or knowledge of supporting Children & Families with SEND is desirable.
