Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced practitioner to join the Salford Mental Health Liaison Service (SMHLS) as a Senior Practitioner, taking a clinical lead role in complex cases and training.

The SMHLS offers a comprehensive range of mental health specialties within one multi-disciplinary team so that all patients, regardless of age, with a suspected or actual mental health problem can be assessed, treated, signposted, or referred appropriately regardless of age, presenting complaint, time of presentation or severity.

The service puts an emphasis on diversion and discharge from A&E and on the facilitation of early but effective discharge from general admission wards.

The service operates 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

  • Provide clinical leadership, supervision, support, and consultation to nursing staff and MDT staff in the MHLS team, in line with relevant clinical pathway as outlined within the operational procedures.
  • Take a clinical lead in the development, delivery, and evaluation of bespoke training packages for acute hospital staff recognising mental illness and appropriate onward actions to be taken. They will also support the training and development of the wider MHLS.
  • Provide a service to the wards, taking a lead in the assessment and care planning of individuals with a range of complex needs, such as organic and functional illness.
