We help to make a lasting difference to the lives of people throughout the North of England and beyond, by supporting individuals to gain meaningful employment.

Our highly skilled advisers and keyworkers work with a range of individuals; from people who have found themselves recently out of work, to those with complex barriers such as physical disabilities, mental ill-health and debt.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate new referrals by promoting the program and building relationships with community partners.
  • Conduct thorough needs assessments with participants to develop personalised support and training plans.
  • Provide oneonone guidance at intake meetings and followup appointments, as well as group sessions.
  • Coordinate referrals to specialist external provision where appropriate/relevant like colleges, training providers, and employers to support skills development, certification, and progression to employment, education/training, or further ongoing support.
  • Utilise knowledge of the local labour market, health landscape and public service system and how to access, prioritise and sequence the right interventions.
  • Collaborate with a team to design and deliver advice, guidance, and training aligned with participants needs and barriers.
  • Utilise a varied menu of engaging interventions which will address the most significant or pressing barriers that a participant is facing and help them on their pathway into employment (where this is right for the individual), education/training or further ongoing support.
  • Partner with outside organisations to compliment, not duplicate, existing support participants have received from other programs.

About you:

  • Ability to network and promote the organisation.
  • Negotiation skills and the ability to challenge.
  • Ability to work to Key performance indicators and challenging targets.
  • Time management and strong organisation skills.

Skills Required:

  • Knowledge of Support services in the local area and how to refer to them.
  • Excellent knowledge of the local labour market, methods of recruitment and awareness of growth industries.
  • Good knowledge of welfare to work and the customer base.
  • Ability to identify individuals' needs, refer them to other wrap around support services (e.g., debt, health, dependency, housing) and help tackle their wider barriers to employment.
  • Ideally working in training, guidance, advice & counselling environments.
  • Good knowledge of training, education, and employment opportunities.
GC aims to promote a culture of flexibility and agile working.

Going forward we will be transitioning to a culture where full agile working will be a feature of many of our roles.

We also recognise that there may be a need for more permanent flexibility in your working arrangements and in such cases, we encourage you to have these discussions at the interview stage, to enable your flexible working request to be considered as early as possible.

All GC colleagues will work inline with the Health & Safety at work act and the GC Health & Safety Policy.
