Baker/Sandwich Maker

Specific duties of post

  • Preparing all product ingredients, which includes washing, cutting, slicing, chopping, and grating ingredients according to established guidelines.
  • Carry out food preparation according to product specifications.
  • To be aware of and adhere to Catering department's portion control guidelines
  • Maintain a safe working environment in compliance with statutory Food Hygiene / Health & Safety policies
  • Monitor the standard of ingredients
  • Measure and weight wet and dry ingredients
  • Use catering equipment such as ovens, slicers, mixers
  • Crafting and creating new and exciting baked goods
  • Monitor and order more stock as and when needed
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work station at all times
  • Clear, clean, sanitize utensils and dishes before each use
  • Clean and maintain floors and all equipment in kitchens, and service areas, in line with cleaning schedules
  • Transport catering items on trolleys in a controlled manner
  • Maintain a high level of personal hygiene and ensure clean uniforms
  • Check and pass on information and comments as required from contact with staff, supervisor and head chef.
  • Work flexibly and undertake any other cateringrelated duties that may be reasonably required within the scope of the role
  • Work at other locations, as required, depending on the College's operational needs

Requirements:

Applicants are required to demonstrate that they possess the following attributes:

  • Level 2 and above food hygiene qualification proven by the attainment of a basic Food Hygiene Certificate within two months of appointment
  • Responsible attitude towards health and safety at work
  • A good understanding of the use of different equipment/machinery within the work area and the ability to operate such equipment/machinery
  • Physically able to operate different equipment/machinery and lift objects of varying loads
  • A good understanding of regularly used food ingredients
  • A good command of verbal English proven by the attainment of a basic level English language course, in order to be able to understand basic instruction and communicate effectively with staff, supervisor and head chef.
  • A flexible approach to working, sufficient to be able to work a 5/7 days per week arrangement, work evenings and weekends, and able to work at any location/catering outlet, as reasonably requested
  • A high level of personal hygiene
  • Proven experience working in a fastpace environment.
  • The ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • The ability to work effectively under stress.
  • Strong work ethic.

Salary:
£13.95 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
