THE JOB
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our expanding Business Development team as a Trainee Estimator


PURPOSE OF ROLE

  • To provide the business with accurate estimates for tenders and other new business opportunities.
  • Working as part of the business development team, prepare financial submissions for tenders and new business proposals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To review and assess documentation and drawings for tender opportunities and to calculate the associated costs.
  • To review and assess survey information for business proposals and calculate the associated costs.
  • Identify and understand the client's requirements and incorporate into proposals.
  • Where necessary to take off measurements or otherwise quantify the work required.
  • To undertake site visits to further verify scale, scope and nature of work
  • To obtain quotations for materials, subcontractors and / or hired in equipment.
  • To assist the Commercial Manager in identifying risk and issues relating to tenders and new business opportunities.
  • To support the Commercial Manager in clarifying customer requirements.
  • Assisting bid writers with information for quality submissions.
  • Liaising and supporting Regional and Contract Management in the preparation of bids and mobilisation of contracts.
  • To undertake all activity in accordance with company policy and procedures.

  • Use of relevant software such as Excel, Word & Outlook
  • Some knowledge of grounds maintenance or other related service industry useful but not essential

Qualifications:


  • GCSEs or equivalent at grades 94 (A*C) in English and maths.

SALARY


Starting salary is £25,000 whilst training and we would expect to review this at regular intervals in the first year of employment.
