To ensure process equipment and factory fabric is safely and efficiently cleaned to the required standards set out in the hygiene and H&S procedures.

To assist in the maintenance of equipment and fabric, through adherence to procedures and identification of non-conformances.

The role sits within the Hygiene Department, which forms part of the Technical function.

The role demands a good knowledge and understanding of hygiene, food safety and health & safety practises as cleaning process equipment and building fabric is a critical part of the food safety management system.

Many of the cleaning activities involve dismantling and reassembling process equipment. Some maintenance tasks are carried out during cleaning to maximise equipment efficiency, e.g. greasing/oiling and seal replacement. It may be necessary to work across the factories as required.

Responsible for dismantling, cleaning and re-building of a wide variety of equipment.

Assist in achieving optimum OEE through cleaning in a timely manner and adherence to cleaning & H&S procedures.


Using cleaning chemicals, materials and utilities in a controlled way observing the details within the hygiene CIC's and H&S procedures to maximize benefit and minimize cost.


Using cleaning equipment (ie hoses, guns, foamers, dosatrons) in a controlled and effective way to optimize use and minimize damage.

Work in a safe manner by following the Company H&S policies and Hygiene procedures.

Achieve high cleaning standards minimising the risk of microbiological contamination/cross contamination.

Cleaning is carried out efficiently in order to maximise the finished standards and minimise cleaning chemicals and utility wastage.

Ensure PPE is worn correctly and when required.

Complete and record cleaning chemical concentration checks as required.


Identify damage, missing parts or potential foreign bodies during cleaning to your manager, this must be recorded along with actions, this includes production equipment being cleaned and hygiene equipment used to do the task.

Maintenance tasks are carried out during cleaning as required.

Training of operatives against cleaning procedures.

Completion of all relevant due diligence documentation, hygiene sign off paperwork and H&S paperwork in a timely matter.

Attend all training defined in the company compulsory training route (CTR) and additional, specific training, as required.

Take part in company continuous improvement plans and initiatives, as required.

Prioritise cleaning of equipment through communication with production management.

Report potential foreign bodies highlighted during cleaning.

Replace equipment components when required.

Rate of pay = £11.17 per hour
