The Department of Social Policy and Intervention is seeking to appoint a Research and Grants Officer to join our Professional Services Staff team.

As a valued member of the Department you will work in the Finance team and take a leading role in research post-award activities, including providing administrative support and advice to Principal Investigators, researchers and administrative colleagues on the management of their grants.

The role will also entail liaising with the Social Sciences Division, Central Finance, Research Services, and external sponsors, to provide the best post-award service to our Department.


You will be educated to degree level, or with equivalent experience, and have an interest in, or awareness of the higher education research environment.

You should be able to work independently as well as part of a team, be proactive and well organised. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.

You will have experience of working with budgets and financial data with excellent attention to detail, as well as good IT skills including Excel.

Experience of working in a HEI is also desirable, as are AAT or other accounting qualifications.

The role is part-time (30 hours per week), and fixed term for two years.
