Applications are invited for two Consultants in Paediatric Retrieval (PaNDR) & Paediatric Anaesthesia at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CUH).


The regional PaNDR Service incorporates both the Neonatal Retrieval Service and the Paediatric Retrieval Service for the whole of the East of England.


The appointees will provide clinical shifts, clinical leadership, specialist advice and multi-disciplinary management for the Paediatric Retrieval Service and Anaesthetic Services in this thriving, modern teaching hospital.


Applicants should be fully registered with the GMC and have a CCT in Paediatric Anaesthesia or be within six months of receiving a CCT at the time of interview.

As part of our commitment to supporting the medical workforce in the part they play in delivering an excellent caring service to patients, all newly appointed Consultants attend our five-day Consultant Development programme within a year of joining the Trust.

Leadership is a key requirement of doctors' professional work and this innovative programme is designed to support Consultants to hone the leadership and management skills they need to succeed at CUH.


The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC's Good Medical Practice Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.

It is an exciting time to join the team as funding for a new Children's Hospital in Cambridge to open in 2025 has been agreed and work is in full flow regarding the delivery of this project.


We are the regional centre for Paediatric Surgery, with a 40 bedded Neonatal Unit (12 ICU, 16 HDU and 12 SCBU) and a 13 bedded PICU.

Paediatric Anaesthetists cover a large number of complex cases within a range of sub-specialties including Neonatal Surgery, General Paediatric Surgery (including Thoracic and Cancer Surgery), Neurosurgery, Urology, Plastics (including Cleft), ENT (including Reconstructive Airway Surgery), complex Scoliosis and Orthopaedics.

Paediatric Cardiac Surgery, Paediatric Transplantation and Craniofacial are the only sub-specialties not offered on site.
