What is ICT at Sellafield Ltd?
Our Information, Communication Technology profession is made up of more than 500 people.

They are based in Information Services Organisation (our IT department), Cyber Security, Digital, Operational Technology, Asset Management and Business Analytics.

Our IT network is vast and complex. We use several different systems across our facilities. Many are reaching the end of their useful life.

Thanks to the work we do, our IT teams face extra challenges to make our systems fit for purpose and meet regulator expectations.

In practical terms, this means much of our work is focused on ensuring legacy systems are running effectively and decommissioning redundant technology.

We must do this while also ensuring we can operate in a modern, digitally connected, collaborative environment.


The Apprenticeship:


The four-year
Digital Technology Solutions Degree Apprenticeship strikes the perfect balance between on-the-job training and experience, whilst enabling you to study for a fully funded degree.


  • You'll collaborate with experienced professionals to provide tech solutions within areas like software, cyber security, business and systems analysis, and network infrastructure.
  • Your role will be to implement technology solutions, boost productivity and streamline processes to help achieve the company's mission.
  • You will have one day a week to complete your off the job learning, undertake placements in a wide variety of areas, including Geospatial, Operational Research, Asset Information Systems, and Applications, before being placed in a final placement for 12 months

    competitive salary which increases after each successful year you complete.
  • On top of your annual salary, you'll have the opportunity to benefit from an
    annual bonus, linked to company performance, of up to £4000.
  • If you're relocating from more than 30 miles away, we'll support you with a
    relocation allowance of £1,400 and give you plenty of information on the best areas to live and how to find a place too.
  • We aim to strike a good work/life balance by offering
    30 days' annual leave with statutory public holidays on top. There is also the ability to purchase an additional 2.5 days leave on top.
  • We also offer an attractive defined
    contribution pension scheme the company will match up to 13.5% for a 7% employee contribution.
  • You'll be one of hundreds of apprentices, all working together to help make the Sellafield site safe for future generations.

Entry requirements:

Our degree apprenticeships are aimed at those studying or who have achieved A-Levels or equivalent.

The entry requirements for our degree apprenticeship schemes are:


  • Other Level 3 qualifications may be considered.
  • Vocational equivalents at level 3 or higher will also be considered as equivalent to UCAS points
  • Functional Skills Level 2 will also be considered as equivalent to GCSE Grade 4 (Grade C)
