Early Careers Attraction & Selection Lead


Location:

Birmingham, Hybrid (minimum of 1 day per week, with ability to attend more often when required)

Full time, FTC (12 months)

You'll provide day-to-day management and delivery for the Early Careers Recruitment agenda within HSBC UK. This includes the Attraction and Selection processes for Foundation Apprentices, Degree Apprentices, Work Experience and Traineeships.

In addition, you'll provide support to the Graduate and Intern recruitment agendas for HSBC UK as about 20% of the role.

Where appropriate, you'll connect with the Global and Group Emerging Talent teams to ensure alignment and to contribute to strategy discussions and planning.

What does a "day in the life" of my new team look like?

  • Develop and deliver an Attraction strategy that positions HSBC UK as an employer of choice for diverse Early Careers talent. By aligning with our future skills needs this will help to build a pipeline of 'home grown' capability
  • Deliver a Selection strategy that ensures fair and consistent selection decisions based on bestinclass methodologies. To align the Early Careers recruitment processes with the Graduate and Intern approaches wherever possible
  • Achieve greater diversity in work experience, foundation & degree apprenticeship hires (aligned to HSBC targets) through an inclusive attraction and engagement strategy and a fair and consistent selection process
  • A key part of this role will be to develop and deliver an Attraction strategy that positions HSBC UK as an employer of choice for diverse work experience and apprenticeship talent.
  • Deliver an Attraction campaign that is innovative, compelling and highprofile within the early careers Utilise technology and creativity to stand out from the competition
  • To create consistency wherever possible across the structure and delivery of Early Careers recruitment and Graduate / Intern recruitment. Where differences are needed for valid business reasons these should also be accommodated but the default position is to create consistent approaches wherever possible.
  • To support the Emerging Talent Attraction and Selection Lead, UK with the development and delivery of Graduate and Intern recruitment within HSBC UK, This will include engaging with the Group and Global recruitment agendas and optimizing HSBC UK's external profile as a Graduate employer.
  • Maintain / develop excellent, mutuallybeneficial relationships with key external stakeholders such as schools, universities, the Institute of Student Employers, the Association of Apprentices etc. and relevant regulatory bodies
  • Maintain best practice guides and training for the wider Team
  • Maintain strong relationships with Executive Sponsors and other key stakeholders to ensure that the business' recruitment needs are being met
  • Lead, manage and develop the team members responsible for the Early Careers Attraction and Selection activity.
  • Meet the requirements of Ofsted, the ESFA, Office for Students and all other relevant bodies when developing and delivering apprenticeship activity.

What do I need to succeed in this role?

_ Must haves:
_


  • Experience of Emerging Talent recruitment in a managerial capacity
  • You'll have knowledge of attraction and recruitment strategies
  • You'll have experience of presenting to and solving issues for senior stakeholders (e.g. HR Leaders, Heads of Business) and gaining their agreement to a course of action
  • Ability to liaise with and influence all levels of management to agree a change of direction or new process
  • Knowledge of local recruitment practices along with the ability to use market intelligence and analyse market trends to provide insights to clients
  • You'll have demonstrated experience in the pastoral care and development of team members
  • You'll have the ability to have challenging conversations with internal and external senior stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build credible relationships
  • You'll have experience of working within a fastpaced corporate recruitment environment
  • You'll be able to respond quickly and positively to changing priorities

Nice to haves:


  • HR/Learning and Development experience.
  • Expert in behavioural / competencybased interviewing (both face toface and via the telephone)
  • Knowledge of / willingness to acquire knowledge of development strategies for apprentices and knowledge of attraction, recruitment and development strategies for other Early Careers programm
