Purpose of the Role


The role of the Security Team Leader is to ensure the effective day to day deployment and leadership of a large security team.


  • Meeting centre objectives in keeping the centre Safe and Secure.
  • Maintaining operational standards and providing excellent customer service.
  • Effective supervision of incidents and technical aspects of the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the overall effectiveness and efficiency of security / customer service delivery.
  • Supporting the Security Duty Manager in achieving the aims and objectives of the Centre's security department.
  • Ensure Security Officers are performing their duties to a high standard.
  • Provide Performance, Development and Review of officers on your team
  • Provide train
ing and guidance supporting officer development on a daily basis.

  • In order to comply with the Security Industry Act 2001, officers must hold a valid SIA Security Licence (and where necessary a Public Space Surveillance Licence)
  • Report significant security incidents, secure and preserve evidence to ensure a successful investigation / identifying good practice and or areas for improvement
  • Support Centre Management developing relationships with retailers and their security providers.
  • Ensure all aspects of health and safety checks are followed and breaches reported.
  • Support the evacuation of the Centre in an emergency in accordance with the Centre's evacuation plan
  • Support the implementation of centre event planning.
  • Carry out briefings with officers promoting Counter Terrorism Objectives.
  • Report any security weakness, breaches on site immediately.
  • Promote operational working relationship between the security team and the local Police.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Essential

  • Ability to demonstrate provision of security services at supervisory level, in a busy environment, visited by members of the public.
  • In order to comply with the Security Industry Act 2001, officers must hold a valid SIA Security Licence (and where necessary a Public Space Surveillance Licence)
  • Effective people management skills & good team building skills.
  • Selfmotivated, able to work on own initiative and deal with demanding situations
  • A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of legislative health & safety requirements.
  • Ability to demonstrate and lead a team to deliver excellent levels of customer service.
  • Honest and reliable work ethic.
  • Enthusiasm and understanding of the importance of onsite training for emergency procedures.
  • Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Willingness to work patterns and work weekends / evenings as and when required.
  • Willingness to undertake additional training and career development.
  • Smart and well presented, providing an excellent example of leadership.
  • Accurate record keeping with good attention to detail.
Desirable

  • Operational experience within a retail environment.
  • Experience of direct liaison with Police, Fire and Government Enforcement office.

Working Hours
