Electrical Technician

Are you a skilled and experienced Electrical Technician? Do you have a passion for "Big Engineering", aeroplanes and all things aerospace? Then this exciting role is the role for you


You will be working at a world leading aerospace and aerodynamics research establishment which works with such clients as Saab, Bombardier, Boeing, Turkish Aerospace, Lockheed Martin, Airbus, Comac and BAE Systems to mention but a few.

As an Electrical Technician you will be working as part of a highly skilled and enthusiastic team servicing, maintaining and upgrading the on-site transonic wind tunnel amongst other specialist facilities.

Not only assisting in the day to day testing thatthe facility is used for but carrying out inspections, planned maintenance and determining maintenance programmes on various systems including the 11kV transonic wind tunnel motor.

There is also a chance to use your expertise to influence how the various facilitiescould be improved.

Your main duties and responsibilities as an Electrical Technician will be:
Undertake tasks associated with running the transonic wind tunnel and associated equipment.


Fault finding and fixed installation and wiring testing on various voltage ranges including 11kV, 3.3kV, 415V and 110V and 24V on the AC system and 110V and 24V on the DC system.


Carry out planned maintenance :
inspections, maintenance and repairs of the equipment involved with tunnel testing and electrical services.

Responsible for reactive maintenance of the plant and equipment during breakdown scenarios including fault-finding in accordance with supervisory instructions.


Control and monitor the electrical equipment associated with the 11kV Main Transonic Fan Motor and the Sulzer Axial Compressor and Motor.


Be responsible for the installation of new electrical equipment in accordance with supervisory instructions and share ideas on design and implementation improvements, as appropriate.

Time-served Electrical Apprenticeship and/or significant demonstrated experience.

Ability to work on different types of inverter drive systems.

Team player, capable of coaching and mentoring less experienced employees as well as supervision of apprentices as required.

Flexible and positive attitude, willing to go that extra mile to meet deadlines/schedules.

Attention to detail in terms of quality of work.

Drive and commitment to improve own skills and be receptive to new ideas and ways of working.

Self-motivated with good communication and can-do attitude to overcome issues that arise
