CPRE the countryside charity is a long-established and highly respected voice on land use and planning in England.

As we come up to our centenary in 2026, we're deeply involved in influencing far reaching reforms to both farming and planning.

You'll report to the Head of Policy & Planning but also work closely within a team of policy and research officers, and with our External Affairs, Engagement & Income and Volunteering & Partnerships teams.

In this role you will take on an exciting and highly varied programme of work in which no two days are the same.

We are looking for a planner who has a strong interest in land use, tackling the climate emergency and securing equality, diversity and inclusion in planning processes and outcomes.

You will:

  • Carry out research projects relating to CPRE's main campaigns, including on national planning policies, renewable energy and rural farming and land use
  • Advise and work with team leads and local groups on national planning policy issues of relevance to CPRE's work, in particular through research papers and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) analysis
  • Advocate for CPRE campaigns and policies through supporting responses to relevant government consultations and representing CPRE to policy and research audiences
CPRE is a great place to work with friendly, enthusiastic staff and offices in Old Street, London. We place a high value on equality. We treat everyone with respect because we know it's the right thing to do. We also know that diverse teams make much better decisions, are more creative and more stimulating to work in.

So, if you join us, you will be able to help us put equality, the environment and diversity at the centre of everything we do.

We hope you like the sound of the job and will take the time to apply
