The post holder will provide an effective administration service in relation to the creation and management of the rotas, changeovers and inductions of registrar and consultant staff within the Trust.

This will ensure efficient and effective organisation and delivery for all operational issues in relation to medical staffing. The post holder will work under the direction of the Service managers for Network Services.


The role will also provide an administrative function for other tiers of medical staffing within the Division including monitoring and management of Essential Training relating to registrar's and consultants within Network service division under the direction of the Divisional PA and Service manager.


The post holder will also provide Divisional administration support as required and for specific projects and other administrative duties as required by the Divisional team, including leave cover for the divisional PA.

Assist the E-Rostering Officer to ensure sufficient inbox/phone cover of general requests from clinical staff.


For all rotas within the Division:

  • To be responsible for the preparation and distribution of medical rota information, ensuring communication to all relevant staff and regular liaison with senior medical staff.
  • Populate the rota with the names of new doctors at the commencement of rotation and as individuals start and leave during rotations.
  • Manage the rota.
  • Address any gaps in the rota due to short-term absence.
  • Organise internal locum cover where required, obtaining approval where this is outside of delegated authority.
  • Provide a report of internal locum hours and shifts completed by trainee doctors on rotation to Medical Workforce within agreed timeframes for submission to the North West Deanery for payment.
  • Highlight areas of concern for cover to the service manager and liaise with Medical Staffing where external locums are required and approved. Obtaining approval will be required where this is outside of delegated authority.
  • Undertake work to support rota monitoring requirements in line with Medical Staffing and Divisional management advice.
  • Oversee medical staff equipment e.g. bleeps and laptops. This includes assigning new equipment at the start of a rotation and collecting this at the end of the rotation, in addition to dealing with required repairs etc.
  • Undertake any other adhoc administrative duties to support the divisional PA, commensurate with the post as directed by Divisional Manager Network Services and/or Junior Doctor Lead.


Clinical Network services division is responsible for the service management of Protons, radiotherapy, Clinical oncology, SACT services, Haematology, Medical oncology, Outpatients, pharmacy and Physics.
