We're based in Yalding, near Maidstone, Kent.

We're looking for a friendly, calm person to assist a cheerful, polite young man with disabilities in his day to day life.

This includes accompanying him to his volunteering placements, making sure he remembers to take his medication, accompanying him on recreational trips out e.g.

cinema, bowling, being present and encouraging him to shop for and cook his own meals, and handle his own daily chores.

All mileage and expenses are covered.

Hours will be regular for the most part but can be flexed by prior agreement.

Responsibilities:

Provide personal assistance and support to one young man.
U.K. valid driving license and car essential as we're not easy to reach by public transport.
No personal care is required, only prompts to remember to do things himself
Provide companionship and emotional support at times, he can be anxious when facing a new situation.
Remind him to take his own medication, follow all medical advice when provided, there is a seizure protocol in place luckily seizures are rare
Encourage him to prepare his own meals and help him plan and shop for meals. May need some assistance at times, but the aim is for him to develop his independent living skills
Encourage him to keep up with his housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and organizing himself.
Accompany him to appointments and outings as needed.
Communicate about the care provided.

Experience:

Previous experience working with people with disabilities, especially language disorders is preferred but not required as training for our young man will be given.
Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with individuals of all ages.
