About the role
Here at Kerry, we are currently recruiting for a SHE Coordinator onsite in Padiham, UK.


Our Padiham site in Lancashire develops, manufactures, and supply's a comprehensive range of Infused Oils and Fats to the food industry.

Our business is focused on supplying food producers with most of our products going to prepared food manufacturers andthe remainder to bottling companies for private label and branded oil ranges.


You will be able to demonstrate knowledge to ensure that the company provides a safe and healthy work environment for all its employees and site visitors.

The SHE Coordinator will play a key role in the implementation of effective HSE policies and procedures,will lead Health & Safety initiatives, drive a proactive accident prevention approach and promote a positive H&S culture throughout the business.


Key responsibilities

  • Provide support to the QSHE technology cluster to ensure all directives, policies and initiatives are effectively incorporated at plant level.
  • Assure compliance to Group H&S policies and applicable local regulations and contribute and support the implementation of the Regional H&S strategy and procedures
  • To identify site training needs for related skills; arranging and carrying out health and safety training of employees in liaison with Cluster Lead/site management
  • To liaise where necessary with various authorities (local health and safety regulators, Government Agencies, Group Insurers etc.)
  • Accountable for executing the cluster environmental/sustainability initiatives that are in line with the regional strategy
  • Drive and maintain certification to the ISO 14001 standard
  • Assure compliance to Group environmental/sustainability policies and applicable local regulations
  • Liaise with any visiting enforcing agency/authority on Environmental matters
  • Develop internal communication and promote environmental education programmes to assist in increasing consciousness at all levels; to change mentalities, habit and overcoming resistance to environmental change
  • Conduct SHE risk assessments and implements corrective actions
  • To advise on SHE features in the design, introduction, use and decommissioning of manufacturing processes and equipment
  • To help establish a plan to be followed in the event of a major health and safety or environmental incident
  • Lead investigations of accidents and other health and safety incidents. Escalate serious incidents through the appropriate channels in a timely manner
  • Maintain SHE incident records & statistics for the proper implementation of corrective and preventive actions
  • Ensure legislative compliance is achieved through the development & implementation of appropriate work instructions and training
  • Perform SHE audits and monitor where any follow up action is taken when required
  • Agree annual SHE objectives with Site Manager and Cluster Lead. Manage objectives through the year to ensure they are met
  • Monitor site SHE KPI's, drive to attain performance targets (KPI's) and lead investigations that affect the Environmental impact of the site
  • Ensure all suppliers, customers, contractors are completing their activities, as set out in the site procedures, through sign off and continual monitoring to ensure their activities are being undertaken in a safe environmentally conscientious manner
  • Manage SHE activities to ensure they stay within budget

Qualifications and skills

  • Leader experience in a food manufacturing Plant environment strongly preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of health, safety and environmental regulations, and concepts.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with a variety of internal and external contacts.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively organize and manage numerous work tasks of a diverse nature
  • Understanding root cause analysis and corrective/preventative actions.
  • Ability to work with cross functional teams in the plant.
  • Knowledge and experience with relevant standards and systems such as ISO 1400
  • Strong Computer Skills (Excel, Work, PowerPoint).
  • NEBOSH Certificate minimum
