BAM UK & Ireland is recruiting a Social Value Coordinator to join our Social Sustainability Team.

Reporting to the Head of Social Sustainability for our Northern Region the post will be based in our Salford offices.


The role will involve a mixture of working from our office, from home and on sites across the Northwest and North Wales.

Hybrid flexible working arrangements are encouraged and actively supported.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic team environment and deliver social impact in Manchester, the Northwest and North Wales.


Your mission
You will work on employment, education and community activities on BAM Northwest and North Wales projects. You will liaise with internal and external stakeholders, to plan, promote, deliver, monitor and report on BAM's social sustainability, education and community engagement

  • Develop Social Value Plans for the Northwest/ North Wales projects setting targets that align with the National TOMs criteria as well as client expectations/contractual requirements.
  • Collate all necessary social value data from projects and input into BAM's Social Sustainability Reporting Tool.
  • Produce monthly and annual social value reports for the regional management team.
  • Represent BAM on frameworks and supporting frameworks' aims.
  • Support projects in fulfilling commitments on local employment and training, including apprentice targets where required.
  • Proactively establish links with relevant education establishments, training providers, industry bodies and community organisations.
  • Provide input, as requested, to the preparation of tender and bid documentation.
  • Attend pre and posttender interviews with bid teams.
  • Organise and support the delivery of work experience (virtual and live) placements on projects or in offices including the development of resources to support these placements.
These will be placements for students and people looking to get into employment to undertake activities which:


  • Promote construction as a career choice
  • Develop skills within the industry
- particularly within our supply chain

  • Encourage new entrants to the industry, with a focus on apprentices
  • Enhance the delivery of the school curriculum, with a strong focus on STEM
  • Assist projects in meeting the minimum requirements of the Considerate Constructor's Scheme with regards to community engagement.
  • Liaise with the supply chain to provide opportunities for unemployed people and apprentices into work.
  • Promote activities with BAM's charity partners, and proactively encourage volunteering and fundraising within the region.
  • Drive BAM's strategic agenda to enhance lives, by supporting centrally organised community engagement initiatives at a regional level.
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing across the business through the development of learning resources and case studies that capture best practice.
  • Attend biannual meetings to receive training updates, share best practice and network with community teams across the business.

Who are we looking for?

  • A high degree of energy and selfmotivation.
  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Educated to GCSE level.
  • Experience of community engagement and managing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Be highly competent in MS Suite especially Excel and Powerpoint
  • An understanding of EDI and the Employment and Skills agenda
  • Knowledge and experience in National TOMs and the Social Value Portal.
  • Selfmotivated and flexible to manage own diary and tasks.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Able to work well within a team environment.
  • Enthusiasm and ability to inspire and engage a broad cross section of stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly throughout the region.
