Regulatory Lead - Crop Protection

Role responsibilities


The Regulatory Lead for Crop Protection works closely with the EMEA Operations Manager, Partners, clients, and consultants within their group to ensure delivery of projects to a high quality and support the continued growth of the global plant protection registration business.

He/she will be responsible for the overall line management and performance of a group of circa 20-30 consultants located across our three European Business Units.


Key tasks include:

  • Contribute to the commercial growth of the business through actively participating in the wider business development activities such as client visits, conferences and expert groups relevant to expert area, as appropriate
  • Provide client and internal team with support on plant protection regulations and changes in regulatory guidance
  • Work closely with clients, representing ERM in client meetings and act as a focal point for selected key clients


Using their experience of agrochemical registration, he/she will also be expected to support the business in growing our Crop Protection services.

This could be through the development of a new regulatory service and/or working closely with a global key account team to expand a regulatory program of work we are delivering for one or more of ERM's clients.


Other responsibilities include (not limited to):

  • Oversight of training and development, performance review and recruitment support
  • Onboarding of direct reports and support to line managers in the group, as required.
  • Monitoring of workloads and support allocation of project work within the group, to support achievement of targets.
  • Promotion of applicable Health and Safety policies within the work environment, including identification of workload / wellbeing concerns.
  • Talent review of group members, and provision of support to staff in personal development/promotion plans.
  • Understand client's desired outcomes and work collaboratively to ensure team deliverables meet quality standards

Skill & experience requirement:

  • Educated to degree level within chemical or other related disciplines such as biology or chemistry
  • 10+ years' experience in the plant protection regulatory arena
  • Strong working knowledge of EU Plant Protection Product regulations previous contact with national or EU regulatory bodies essential
  • Understanding of other global Plant Protection Product regulations would be an advantage but not essential
  • Experience in the preparation and submission of dossiers for agrochemical registrations, including practical knowledge of IUCLID and regulatory agency portals
  • Industrial experience in the plant protection industry would be beneficial
  • Proven line management skills, with experience of managing a team remotely
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with others and passion to help others develop
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment and across disciplines
  • Strong commitment to delivering high quality work that exceeds clients' expectations
  • Excellent communicator (written/verbal) with the ability to listen, organise and prioritise
  • Clear and effective presentation skills
