About The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Housing Engagement team as a Housing Activity Coordinator.

You will work in the heart of our community to make sure that the voice of the Council's housing tenants and leaseholders is loud and clear in all the decisions concerning their homes, local area and their wellbeing.

You do this by arranging events which bring people together. This can be big, celebratory events on Council estates or small gatherings within particular communities.

You meet and talk to our tenants and leaseholders, you understand their concerns and you feed it back to make improvements in the services they receive.

This is a good role to get experience of running projects and to achieve get a good sense of satisfaction when you can see it working.


About The Team You'll Be Working In
The Housing Engagement team is within the Engagement and Events section.

This gives us a great position to be able work alongside likeminded officers and bounce ideas around as a team.

Everyone works together for our events.

The Housing Engagement team is passionate about getting our residents' voice heard and we work very hard to achieve this, juggling many projects at once.

Nothing is impossible and we are imaginative in our approach.

You will work to the Housing Engagement Manager


Your role will include:

  • Working with colleagues and partner agencies to ensure residents participate in activities which reduce social isolation and improve wellbeing.
  • Working on events across the borough which engage with tenants so the Council can better understand their needs.
  • Reaching out to communities we find difficult to engage with and building a trusted relationship with them.
  • Being aware of issues which cause legal, reputational or financial risks to the Council.
  • Gathering local community insights and reporting on your findings.

About You

  • You have a strong IT skills and be highly organised, often you will need to juggle many projects.
  • You are a strong coordinator with excellent social skills, able to engage effectively with a broad range of people and encourage them to participate in activities.
  • You act with integrity, take personal responsibility while working flexibly and independently across a number of sites in the borough.
  • You are a creative thinker who looks for interesting ways to engage residents.
  • You embed the principles of the Equalities, Diversity and Equalities principle in all that you do.
  • You are a high performing individual who is also good at working within a team to achieve shared targets.
You will need to be able to travel independently across the borough to carry out this role.

You will often need to work in the evenings or at weekends, for which you receive time off in lieu of the additional hours worked.
