The role


A unique opportunity has arisen for a strong and confident individual to join the Business as a Chief of Staff.

In this role you'll be working directly with the Managing Director - Clyde and the exec team to maximise their outputs and support to the customer.

The role holder will principally provide support to the Managing Director across all areas of responsibility, from strategy through to operational activities and will also aid the other Executive as required.

You will be comfortable working autonomously and pro-actively for the benefit of the team.

It is an ideal opportunity for an individual who is comfortable at communicating and engaging with all levels in the organisation as well as external senior customer stakeholders and has an ability to assimilate information quickly and cascade in easy-to-understand chunks quickly picking up on key messages and action points.


Day to day, you'll

  • Attend meetings with the MD, capture themes, key actions and suggest/draft responses/ action track as well as providing input and views from own insights and experience.
  • Prepare all external packs, reports and presentations required by the MD. Provide meeting briefs, attendees briefs, key issue/opportunity briefs.
  • Create a proactive communication and engagement plan for the MD working closely with communications support and HR to ensure that opportunities to communicate with, meet and talk to employees is maximised.
  • Opportunistically review the MD diary give direction as necessary to Executive Assistant support to suggest/ arrange engagement opportunities.
  • Read and summarise important documents issued to MD, highlighting key themes and linkages and present back to MD as a debrief.
  • Act as a sounding board for the MD as required using insight and experience.

Essential experience of the Chief of Staff:

  • Experience at a mid-level management level role if not Head of Department role.
  • The individual will be highly organised with the ability to pick up on interdependencies, deal with conflicting demands and be exceptional at networking.
  • Troubleshooting capability with an ability to think laterally.
  • Project /programme management experience with ability to manage change programmes, strategic planning capability with a good level of capability in data analytics.
  • Previous experience in a consulting field may be advantageous.
