Key
Responsibilities
- To assist the Operations & Facilities Manager with all maintenance upkeep tasks throughout the school, including facilities maintenance, light building work, i.e. carpentry, cleaning, painting and gardening.
- To help maintain lighting, plumbing, decoration and aesthetic appearance to provide excellent facilities for all users of the school.
- To fix minor repair issues and to ensure prompt resolution to all reactive maintenance requests.
- To repair and / or assemble classroom, office, studio furniture as and when required.
- Checks on all school facilities and systems, including emergency lights, fire doors, access and security.
- To help maintain the school's A/V systems to ensure course requirements are met.
- To respond to reactive facilities issues as directed by the Operations & Facilities Manager, as and when they occur to ensure the smooth running of the school.
The post holder may be required to carry out additional operational duties in keeping with the nature of the post and the school's needs.
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Previous experience working within a facilities role and environment.
- Experience of basic carpentry, painting / decoration, plumbing, electrics and ad hoc building repairs.
- Good oral and written communication skills, ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Willingness to undertake training and learn new skills.
- An understanding of the importance of Health and Safety in the workplace.
- Work using your own initiative and find solutions to problems.
Desirable
- Health & Safety qualification, i.e.
- IOSHH.
- Knowledge on planned preventive maintenance in accordance tocompliance and regulations.
- System trouble shooting and fault finding (HVAC, electrical, plumbing).
- Knowledge of basic A/V technology and intermediate level computer skills.
- Experience working in an educational setting.
