Materials Controller - Up to £26,000 - Newcastle

We are delighted to be supporting a global, sustainable and profitable packaging company in their search for a new Materials Controller.

As a Material Controller you will support the purchasing function by ensuring that production and non
- production materials, consumables and services are ordered in a timely manner. This will include supporting day to day purchasing activities to ensure all direct and indirect site requirements are met.


Job Description of a Materials Controller

  • To order product in accordance with production plan and forecast for two sites.
  • To ensure deliveries are made on time in full and expedite where necessary.
  • To manage stock levels for materials in line with KPls.
  • To proactively work in partnership with the production team to improve the flow of communication regarding materials required to ensure zero material stockouts.
  • Reporting, generating, maintaining and issuing a range of reports on inventory levels and value analysis.
  • To raise, issue and complete purchase orders in line with purchasing procedures.
  • To set up item codes and prices in MRP system.
  • To support research and analysis for projects and developments supporting continuous improvement, cost savings initiatives and strategic change.

Skills & experience of a Materials Controller

  • Previous experience in a Materials or Production Planning role.
  • Awareness of materials and supply chain used in production.
  • Awareness of procurement systems.
  • Relevant experience of statistical analysis and trend analysis.
  • Negotiation/influencing skills.
  • Experience of working with MRP systems.
