_ The role_
Reporting to the Senior Billing Lead, the Billing Lead will lead the day to day activities within the Billing Team.
They will ensure that all tariff and contract customers are billed for the gas they use in an accurate and timely manner.
They will be responsible for training new and existing members of staff, ensuring delivery of best in class customer service to customer and stakeholders.
Additionally, they will be the first point of contact for potential and existing customers and stakeholders, monitoring queries and complaints through to successful resolution.

About The Role
Key Priorities
- Take the lead in day to day activities within the Billing Team under the direction of the Senior Billing Lead, escalating issues where appropriate, and delegating work consistently within the team
- Assist the Senior Billing Lead to ensure timely and robust tariff and month end contract billing to support company cash flows
- Assist with revenue management across the business and work with internal departments to ensure processes are in place to minimise revenue leakage
- Involvement in recruitment, and training new and existing members of staff, ensuring the delivery of best in class customer service to customers and stakeholders
- Create the right working environment for the team through motivating and developing the team and leading by example
- Provide support for the Billing team members with queries and customer complaints, and analyse and review team performance to monitor and drive performance within the team
- Report on and assist the Billing Team in meeting their Key Performance Indicators
- Oversee the complaints process ensuring all complaints addressed within agreed timeframes
- Enhance data analysis within the department to highlight discrepancies in billed volumes
- Monitor data integrity and accuracy of processed information ensuring compliance with licence conditions, Codes of Practice and internal procedures
- Ensure all Billing documentation is up to date with reference to licence conditions, Codes of Practice and internal procedures
- Develop strong relationships with other firmus energy departments, gaining comprehensive knowledge of the end to end billing and financial processes
- Assist with supplier contract procurement and tendering processes
- Assist the Customer Billing Manager with strategic business initiatives and undertake any additional duties as directed
- At all times deliver on firmus energy values
Required Criteria
- Minimum of 5 GCSE passes at Grade C or above (or equivalent) to include English & Maths
- Minimum of 1 years' experience within a Customer Billing environment and knowledge of Billing Systems
- Experience of supervising a busy, multifunctional team.
- Proven ability to deliver team training with successful results and monitor effectiveness.
- Successful track record of driving improvement initiatives and implementing solutions
- Proven ability to work on own initiative and prioritise personal and team workload
- Proficient user of MS Office
- Excellent people communication skills (written and oral) in dealing with internal and external relationships
Desired Criteria
- Previous experience within the utility sector
