Support Worker

Victoria House, Manchester

£11.52

37.5 hours per week - 4 shifts per week including weekends, 8am - 6pm and 12pm - 10pm on a rolling rota

We're seeking an experienced Support Worker to make a real difference to the lives of our customers.

Victoria House provides accommodation to adults that are homeless, experiencing housing related crisis or are in need of temporary housing and support.

On its own, Victoria House also offers an emergency accommodation service, for stays of around two to three weeks, to help avoid rough sleeping.

The role of Support Worker will include:

  • Regularly assessing the needs of customers by writing and updating support plans, and signposting access to education, training and employment
  • Offering advice in relation to fulfilling tenancy conditions
  • Assisting customers with managing finances and welfare benefits
  • Encouraging social inclusion and helping clients to build their confidence, resilience and selfesteem
  • Working with statutory and nonstatutory agencies on behalf of the clients and actively encouraging choice and involvement, or acting as an advocate when required
  • Promoting safe working practices by undertaking risk assessments within legislative frameworks

Skills and experiences:


  • Previous experience working with people who have experienced mental health issues
  • Sound knowledge of housing management including voids and arrears management
  • Good understanding of occupancy agreements
  • Experience in support planning, key working and risk management plans
  • The ability to work on your own initiative and to react effectively under pressure
  • NVQ3 in Health and Social Care, or willing to work towards
