£24,685- £27,144 per annum (dependant on experience)

Student Union Helpdesk Assistants (x5)

Here at The University of York Students Union, we have an exciting job opportunity for someone to join our Activities team as the Helpdesk Coordinator.


About the role:


The University of York Students Union is looking to recruit an enthusiastic individual to lead a small team of student staff and shape Student Union Helpdesk (a front-line support desk for students).

This is an office based-role, where your administration skills and confidence in using a computer will be paramount to ensuring the smooth running of the department.

The role involves the coordination of key processes on behalf of the activities team, including facilitating the multi-faceted transport programme.

Your primary responsibility is to lead the Helpdesk and support students accessing the service.


This will be done through:

  • Developing relationships with a variety of people across the organisation and beyond. Liaising with these people on a regular basis.
  • Enthusiastically welcoming customers and interacting through a variety of methods, answering questions and signposting as necessary.
  • Overseeing the maintenance of accurate records.
  • Monitoring the progress of the Helpdesk systems and processes, ensuring they run smoothly, highlighting areas for improvement and working with the Special Projects Manager to implement updates.
  • Providing regular support and guidance to the Helpdesk team in your role as their line manager.
  • Taking on various administration responsibilities, including a number of processes involving spreadsheets.
  • Facilitating the transport bookings programme for the Unions student groups
  • Overseeing the distribution of the Activities Access Grants
