Head of Finance


Search are looking for entrepreneurial and forward thinking Accountants either straight from practice or from a Fund Accounting, Asset Management or Fin-Tech background.

The right person will be a fully qualified Accountant, with knowledge of different funds, looking to make an exciting move into a growing Fin-Tech.

You will be someone who likes autonomy and being part of the wider business, contributing to the strategic direction and success.

Our client is supported by a wealth of knowledge from their leadership team and their partnerships. Backed with impressive plans for the future They are also a paperless and tech focused organisation who take looking after their carbon footprint seriously


As part of their journey, they now require a finance lead who is entrepreneurial in spirit, fun to work with and obviously a brilliant accountant.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Oversee the daytoday operations of the all accounting functions within the group structure
  • Prepare and review financial statements and other financial reports for alternative investment funds
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements for fund accounting
  • Create and grow the fund accounting team
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
  • Provide commercial and strategic advice to the CEO
  • Reporting to both the FCA
  • Conduct Companies House submissions
  • Complete all relevant returns to HMRC
  • Liaise with external clients of the firm to ensure that their needs are met

Qualifications and Skills:


Essentials:

  • Must be a qualified accountant (CA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent)
  • Strong understanding of alternative investment funds and Annex IV reporting
  • Someone looking for an organisation they can be a part of help develop, advise and grow
  • Able to commute to the central Edinburgh office 2 days a week

Desirable:

  • CFA qualifications OR meet FCA requirements for Activity 17 (You will be put through your CFA studies if needed)
