We are recruiting and Early Years Practitioner for their Newbury setting.


Working hours:
Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 3.00pm with a 30 minute unpaid break, 27.5 hours per week
Term time only - with the option to work an additional 9 playschemes in the holiday at additional pay, at a higher hourly rate than the employees contracted hourly rate


Benefits:
Sick pay, DBS and update fully paid for by the Charity, Employee Assistance programme access, additional leave after 5 yrs & 10 yrs service


Salary:
£9.80 - £10.41 per hour.

We also pay holiday pay as we are only open term time, this then means their hourly rate will be:
£11.17-£11.87 per hour


JOB PURPOSE


Under direction and guidance from the Centre Manager/Deputy, the post holder will work as a member of a team to ensure that the planning, day to day running and development of the work of the setting.


  • Attending to daytoday care of the playrooms, keeping them attractive, safe and clean.
  • Laying out playrooms to suit the needs of children and families.
  • Seeing that equipment in use is safe, hygienic and in a good state of repair.
  • Storing equipment and materials, to maximise ease of access.
  • Staff meetings.

SPECIFIC CHILD & FAMILY ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Relate to children as valued individuals and equals
  • Observe the child during sessions.
  • Record observations using various methods and share these observations with other members of
staff and parents/carers.

  • Play with the child using 'shared play' or 'reflective' approaches.
  • Use particular teaching /learning strategies with a child when appropriate.
  • Welcome siblings as members of the group and make provision for their play.
  • Be aware of their emotional needs.
  • Help parents understand and provide for the play needs of their child.
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE;
Minimum of level 2 in childcare
DBS is required for this role
Experience working with children with SEND is desired but not essential
Understanding of the EYFS is essential
