  • Job description
  • This is an exciting opportunity to join an Asset Performance team in the UK's biggest environmental organisation. We manage flood risk assets across Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire to ensure they protect our communities from the risk of flooding. As professional Asset Managers, you will be part of a team inspecting, maintaining, and refurbishing flood risk assets which include kilometres of riverbanks, sluice gates and flood storage reservoirs among other things.
Your enthusiasm and positive attitude will help you find solutions that deliver our priorities.

You will support our teams with enforcement matters where your skills and experience will ensure our flood risk assets are in the best possible condition.

You will help manage our asset data to ensure it is of the best quality and can be relied on to inform our future investment programme.

Work will include site work, where you will be the face of the Environment Agency as you seek to resolve and follow up on alleged illegal activity assessed as impacting on the integrity of assets that provide protection to communities.

Most of the enforcement action is likely to be resolved with a simple conversation, although some may require a more formal legal approach, either way, effective engagement and an understanding of our legislative processes is essential.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do.

You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident.

This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

  • The team
  • As an organisation we have an ambition to be Carbon Net Zero by 2030 and this will influence how we do things in the future.
Asset Performance Teams manage flood and coastal erosion risk assets to reduce the impact of flooding. We do this by managing the whole lifecycle of our assets, including the effects of climate change through planning, delivery, maintenance, and decommissioning

  • Experience/skills required
  • We are seeking applicants with a passion for enforcement and ideally some appreciation/understanding of engineering. We are looking for an individual to ensure we protect our communities at risk of flooding form rivers and the sea.
You will have a background and previous experience in enforcement. Preferably with a formal qualification or be able to demonstrate significant enforcement knowledge and work experience.
You will have excellent communication skills. Be great at influencing and persuading people and be able to defuse situations. You will remain calm under pressure and be able to adapt your style to the situation.

You will be confident in keeping accurate and detailed records and using IT systems to store, access and manage this data and information.

  • Contact and additional information
  • The Environment Agency is fully committed to having an inclusive workforce which reflects the communities we serve.
The annual salary for this role is £29,706.
Your office base location will be Ceres House, Searby Road, Lincoln LN2 4DW. However, you will also spend time outside across the Greater Lincolnshire area. As such, a Full UK Driving Licence is essential.
Interview and assessment will take place in person at Ceres House.

Interviews Planned for Thursday 12 October
