Lyng Church of England Primary Academy are currently recruiting for a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator to support the provision for pupils identified as having Special Educational Needs (SEND).

This is a great opportunity for an experienced SENCO to join our team working either one or two days per week.

There is the potential for an additional 0.2 FTE teaching role in conjunction with this role.


Ofsted rated Lyng Primary Academy as a good school as as a member of DNEAT, we are greatly supported by our trust, a strong governing body and the communities of Lyng and Shipdham within our federation.

Key characteristics of the role:
- ensuring that progress of pupils with SEND improves relative to those without SEND
- ensuring that the school carries out its statutory responsibilities regarding all pupils with an EHCP
- supporting staff in understanding the needs of SEND pupils by identifying and adopting the most effective teaching practices for pupils with SEND
- liaising with staff, parents, external agencies and other schools to co-ordinate their contribution, provide maximum support and ensure continuity of provision
- understanding day-to-day co-ordination of the school's SEND provision through close liaison with staff, families and external agencies
- use federation models for monitoring systems for identifying, assessing and reviewing SEND and collect and interpret specialist assessment data
- use trust-wide and federation tracking systems to respond to the outcomes for SEND pupils and report these findings to SLT and governors
- identifying resources to meet the needs of pupils with SEND and advise the SLT of priorities for expenditure
- managing annual reviews and EHCP assessment requests
- manage the implementation of an inclusive curriculum.
- support SLT to maximising the impact of Teaching Assistants and ensure therapies and interventions are appropriately ran and training is offered as required
- work with the SENCO at Thomas Bullock to ensure a consistent and systematic approach across the federation.
- an unwavering belief in supporting pupils with SEN and an ability to communicate that passion to staff, pupils and families;
- a proven track record of working effectively with SEND pupils
- started or wish to start the SENDCo qualification
- excellent team-working and communication skills.
