In Cornwall, we offer an integrated drug and alcohol service, delivering an asset based community approach to treatment.

We specialise in harm reduction and needle syringe provision, psycho social interventions, opioid substitution treatment, referral to detox and community interventions.

The post also includes supporting the IPS service working alongside our partner agencies in the Torbay area which is completed through remote working.


Our IPS (Individual Placement and Support) team aims to increase the number of people moving into employment from our drug and alcohol support service.

This is a new project and is an exciting opportunity to help make a real difference to people's lives.

The role will involve managing the IPS team, as well as holding a small caseload. You will take the lead on employer engagement and work closely with key stakeholders. You will ensure the IPS project achieves it targets and delivers the correct support.


About this job


You'll understand the support needed by our service users to navigate their way through seeking and securing employment or education opportunities and know how to guide them to achieve success.


You'll already have or be able to quickly build effective working relationships with local employers, training providers and colleges to support your aims and know how to access the hidden labour market.


You will understand, be able to explain and negotiate any necessary adjustments needed by our service user to potential employers and also how to assess their other support needs such as benefits and travel to help them sustain the employment longer term.


You will lead and develop other employment specialists within the team, supporting them to improve their own practices and the outcomes for service users.


Of course you will need to liaise with Public Health England, a range of With You internal stakeholders and the commissioner to share the how things are progressing, the outcomes achieved and evaluate how we can improve our success rate.

Essential Skills:


To carry out this job successfully, you will:

  • be educated to degree level or have equivalent work experience with evidence of continuous professional development
- have at least 2 years experience of helping people who face severe disadvantages to secure and retain employment
- have experience of working collaboratively with multi-agency partnerships
- be an experienced people manager and coach/mentor
- have knowledge and experience of consulting and co-producing practices with service users
- have an understanding of the principles and practices of the Integrated Support Placement (IPS) model of supported employment
- be able to work in a complex environment and have the resilience and committment to achieve success within agreed timeframes
- demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain effective realtionships with a wide range of stakeholders
- know how to support service users and employers when the employment might be at risk
- be able to communicate complex information in a way that can be easily understood, both verbally and in writing
- be able to manage your time effectively, dealing with unexpected demands when needed
- able to work flexibibly from different locations and unsocial hours as required


This role requires a satisfactory enhanced DBS/PVG with Adult and Child barred list checks.
