Apprenticeship programme


During this 42-month programme, we will help you to develop your practical skills and knowledge required for you to succeed in this role as well as your future career.

Throughout this programme, you will continue to develop your behaviours such as team working,problem-solving and customer focus. Veolia as a business is not only interested in what you accomplish, but the manner you do it.


As well as gaining a broad range of technical and professional knowledge and experience, you'll also gain academic and vocational qualifications such as aLevel 3 Technical (Knowledge) Certificate BTEC In Engineering, NVQ Level 3 (Competency) in Engineering& Working Safety (H&S) Certificate.


What will you be doing?

  • Carrying out routine inspections, service plant and equipment in accordance with a planned preventative maintenance programme.
  • Carrying out minor plant modifications including assisting with the commissioning of new plant and machinery.
  • Assisting with updating site risk assessments.
  • Completing all necessary documentation in a timely manner including shift reports and recording of maintenance carried out.
  • Adhering to the maintenance program for all site equipment and machinery.
  • General stock control of all items necessary for the production area to operate efficiently
  • Administration tasks related to the role (Defect reporting, Raising work orders), General maintenance of site facilities.
  • Assisting engineers in carrying out their duties (PPM or repairs) including skirting and roller replacement.
  • Supporting the 'maintenance continuous improvement' projects at Dagenham veolia plastics and Rainham site.

What are we looking for?

  • A minimum of 4 GCSEs Grade 4 (C or equivalent) or above/predicted to include Maths & English
  • Good mechanical aptitude
  • Willingness to learn and the drive to success
  • Good team player
  • Experience with hand and/or power tools (desirable)
  • Full UK Driving Licence is essential as you will be required to travel to our Rainham site
