A. Purpose & Scope**Our Customers are at the forefront of everything we do, and as a Quayside Warehouse Operative/ HGV Class-2 Driver you will be working both alone and as part of a team with efficiency and commitment to complete your work and strive to maintain the business performance targets.

They should have a Valid CPC Card.

This role best suits upbeat and self-motivated individuals who enjoy working systematically and productively.

The fast paced and energised environment relies on organisation and efficiency and with so much ground to cover in the line of duty it is important to ensure that you have a moderate level of fitness to enable you to comfortably carry out your tasks.

A Warehouse Operative will be an ambitious and hardworking professional who does not mind working in hot or cold conditions and can work an entire shift on his or her feet.

The Warehouse Operative will pay careful attention on the job, follow instructions precisely and double-check his or her work before completing a task.


The role will require that the Warehouse Operative "lives and breathes" the ONETEAM & "RESPECT" values by making a good impression with appearance, manner and leaving everyone you meet with a really positive impression of the employee and the business.

B. Role and Responsibilities

  • Ensuring customers' orders are picked and packed accurately and efficiently
  • Managing deliveries at goods in, confirming they are in good condition and accurate to the system and delivery paperwork
  • Ensuring deliveries are located in the warehouse correctly, safely, and efficiently
  • Performing a rolling stock take and assist in the resolution of stock discrepancies, through cyclical stock checks in area / aisle of responsibility
  • Being responsible for the upkeep of the warehouse environment to ensure its smooth operation
  • Assisting Customers with Goods to their vehicles. (predominantly in branches)
  • Be polite and courteous at all times
  • Be presentable and dressed in the correct uniform
  • Ensure all Stock is picked accurately
  • Ensure Customer service is at the forefront of the business.
  • Ensure damage stock or damage to property is reported to duty manager
  • Ensure all products are stored under correct item location.
  • Ensure stock is rotated on FIFO Basis (first in first out basis)
  • Ensure the stock is topped up (dropped & filled) to allow picking for the day.
  • Ensure stock at risk and stock shortfall is reported to the Duty manager.
  • Ensure cycle counts are carried out on time and the aisles are kept clean and tidy.
  • Ensure the MHE is kept clean and in working order report any fault to the duty manager or any maintenance work that will be required.
  • Ensure pallets stacked on aisles pose no damage to other warehouse operatives.
  • Ensure health and safety aspects are strictly followed.
  • Report all incidents, accidents or near misses to the Duty manager.
  • Ensure fire exits are always kept free of any obstructions.
  • PPE must be always worn along with hard toe cap shoes and ensure everyone is working with masks and gloves and ensure there is social distancing amongst staff.
  • Load and unload lorries in a safe and efficient manner
  • Move and stack materials, in a safe and efficient manner
  • General housekeeping duties in the warehouse or production area and duties as assigned
  • Perform general warehouse duties in order to maintain a smooth operation
  • Receive/process shipments

Essential requirements are:

  • Minimum 1 years' experience of Picking/Packing & Stock taking in a warehouse environment
  • Experience and Certificate of Counterbalance Forklift
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A strong work ethic and desire to succeed
  • Good communication skills (verbal & written English)
  • Possess a good knowledge of IT systems, including software such as Microsoft Office
  • Be willing to work hard and further develop themselves to grow their role within the business

Job Types:

Salary:
Up to £11.70 per hour


Schedule:

  • 10 hour shift

  • Gateshead, NE11 0PZ: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
