The Role - Accommodation Officer -
Working Pattern: 35hrs p/w Mon to Fri


Pinnacle Group are looking for an Accommodation Officer to provide a customer focused, responsive front-line housing management service to the residents of one of our hostels located in Orpington, Kent.


Duties/Key Responsibilities

  • To build professional relationships with tenants and to educate tenants in the rules of the unit.
  • To be polite and courteous to tenants so they feel free to address any issues with you.
  • Ensure the effective execution and implementation of operational processes, systems and standards (in relation to maintenance, health and safety, environmental policies or general duty of care) such that the unit is safe for service users.
  • Carry out moveins and induct tenants to the accommodation. Take tenants through the induction briefing pack. Provide tenants with direction to key contacts within local authorities and your team. Highlight any special support needs for tenants to the local authority.
  • Carry out operational tasks including settling in visits, routine inspections, breach of occupancy resolution and end of occupancy.
  • Ensure that the rooms meet acceptable standard in accordance with local authority.
  • Note any disrepair to Tenant rooms or communal areas and make any recommendations on liability as per lease, tenant damage or Landlord responsibility.
  • Liaise with local authority where repairs are required by them and ensure repairs are completed in correct time scales and of correct standard.
  • Organise and attend evictions where required. Liaise with Local Authority and in house maintenance team in order to secure the property once an eviction takes place.
  • General administrative and any other duties as required.
  • To ensure that any tenant damages are recorded and pursued in line with Orchard and Shipman processes.
  • To support in the completion and collection of paperwork necessary for Housing Benefit claims and to support in the collection of rent.
  • Run & monitor daily progress reports, ensure these are updated and the details are logged on the internal IT systems.
  • Provide accurate and timely reports.
  • Complete Local Authority reports where applicable.
  • Assist in the building and developing key relationships within Local Authority.
  • Respond to Local Authority and tenant's enquiries.

Skills Required:


  • Effective execution and implementation of operational processes and compliance (in relation to property management, maintenance, health and safety, environmental policies or general duty of care)
  • Previous experience of working within a temporary accommodation hostel or similar
  • Good understanding of the Housing Benefit process.
  • Has built and developed a partnership way of working with support agencies & third party suppliers, able to work with them effectively to achieve the required tenants support and business performance
  • Has worked for either an accommodation or customer service business previously
  • Good understanding of temporary housing support needs
  • Good understanding of residential landlord responsibility
  • Good knowledge and understanding of managing costs effectively
  • Computer literate with ability to use word processing tools
  • Ability to produce clear, concise and objectively written paperwork
  • Ability to problem solve and manage difficult customer
