Oxford Nanopore Technologies is headquartered at the Oxford Science Park outside Oxford, UK, with satellite offices and commercial presence in many global locations across the US, APAC and Europe.
Oxford Nanopore's sequencing platform is the only technology that offers real-time analysis (for rapid insights), in fully scalable formats from pocket to population scale, that can analyse native DNA or RNA and sequence any length of fragment to achieveshort to ultra-long read lengths.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join the engineering team as a Production Engineering Technician to support the build and transfer of prototype products into Production.
This exciting and challenging role will involve hands-on mechanical and electronic assembly, wiring layout and adjustment of components using workshop processes.
Feedback and liaison with design and production engineers will be essential as well as providingtechnical support to the Manufacturing department to improve production processes and resolve technical issues.
Duties include:
- Assisting the progression of prototype builds with a view to developing into production assemblies.
- Working within a team to assemble sub assemblies and devices to a fastpaced and high quality level.
- Providing support to resolve technical issues, ensuring all investigation work is documented, with the aim to reduce cost and improve reliability, while complying with current quality standards.
- Following, defining and documenting clear written specifications and work instructions to ensure effective and efficient product assembly.
- Maintaining a professional clear, clean and tidy work space at all times.
- Contributing to driving continuous improvement and ensuring departmental targets are met and exceeded wherever possible.
We'll expect you to have a GCSE in Maths & English and a relevant engineering qualification would also be a bonus.
You'll have worked in prototype and production environments and be used to fast-paced working conditions. If you've assembled and developed complexelectromechanical products, this would also be of benefit.You'll know your way around basic mechanical and electronic engineering processes and have hands-on technical ability working with complex instruments and mechanical assembly.
If you're also familiarwith quality management systems and proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, this would be advantageous.
