Site Assistant

Contract:
Permanent / Part Time / 52 weeks p.a.

Hours:
Core hours: Monday-Friday, 3pm-7pm (20 hours per week)

Regular weekly evening lettings Mon-Fri, after 7pm. Some weekend lettings. Additional hours during the Premises Manager's holiday/absence, as required.

Actual salary range for core hours: £14,238 to £15,198 p.a inc (Scale 4)

All hours outside of core hours to be paid as additional hours up to 36 hours per week. Above 36 hours, to be paid at standard overtime rates.

Start date: 1st September 2023

We are looking for a Site Assistant to join us on our journey at St Michaels.

We are dedicated to the educational outcomes of all our children, with a key focus on ensuring they have access to a well-rounded school experience.

This includes having well maintained and attractive buildings and grounds.


We are looking for a Site Assistant who, under the direction of their line manager, will ensure the secure and efficient running of the school site and premises.


The main responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring school security
  • Supervising lettings (including some weekends and evenings). This includes setting out furniture, monitoring security and ensuring the upkeep and good condition of the facilities
  • General maintenance tasks including cleaning, repairs, grounds maintenance and porterage duties
  • Supervising contractors on site
  • Following all school and statutory regulations and health & safety policies
  • Covering the Premises Manager's role during absence.
  • Proven skills for the post in repairs and maintenance and knowledge of Health & Safety requirements
  • Proven skills in working with/supervising contractors
  • The ability to work as part of a team or work independently with initiative;
  • The ability to manage their time effectively;
  • A flexible approach to working evenings and at weekends to cover lettings and other activities as required, particularly as this is an area of business that the school would like to develop further.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and in sympathy with the aims and ethos of a Christian School.
