Payroll Manager - £60k - Bromley, Kent


Excelcare is a progressive, privately owned care home provider going through an exciting time of rapid growth and digital transformation.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Payroll Manager to join our hard-working Payroll Team to drive change.
We have 32 care homes in the south east as well as a domiciliary care division and social accommodation.


We are looking for a Payroll Manager with an eye for detail processing fortnightly and monthly payrolls accurately and in-line with current legislation.


As part of our small team, flexibility and tenacity together with excellent communication, organisation and time management skills are essential.

You will work closely with colleagues within the HR and Finance teams as well as with our Senior ManagementTeam so the ability to build & maintain relationships at all levels is key.


In addition to taking ownership of the payroll processes you will ensure our processes are efficient, streamlined, automated and simple but ultimately that they meet the needs of our colleagues ensuring confidence in their pay.


Prior relevant experience working in a similar role is essential as is your excellent knowledge of pay related legislation to ensure company compliance and ensure we are forward looking for all key changes.


We are seeking a calm and professional team player with a proactive, positive attitude who has the ability to make judgements on need for consultation and escalation and is passionate about continually improving what we do.


About the role of the Payroll Manager

  • Actively contribute to the strategic vision of the Payroll department.
  • Lead by example with personal development and coaching the team to advance their learning and individual potential.
  • Be agile and open minded in the approach to new challenges and seek opportunities to enhance project delivery through new technology
  • Participate in projects relating to the development of the integrated Payroll-HRFinance database, taking a lead on identifying possible improvements to the systems and playing a key role in implementing agreed changes.
  • Manages workflows and ensures all payroll transactions are processed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.

About You

  • Extensive experience of multisite operations.
  • Strong understanding of varying complex payroll cycles and rules.
  • A proven track record of building internal and external relationships.
  • Professional communication skills, specifically in negotiating with and influencing teams and stakeholders
  • Ability to solve problems as part of a diverse team.
  • Ability to use payroll technical knowledge and insights in a fastpaced and changing environment.


  • Systems experience

  • Flexipay Payroll System (Mitrefinch part of ONEADVANCED)
  • Ideally you will hold a payroll qualification
