Job Purpose:


  • To provide support and information to Non Violentiam (NV)clients who have experienced domestic abuse living in NV accommodation.

  • To support women residents, who have suffered domestic abuse, to build confidence, secure access to available support and services and engage fully within their community.
  • To provide a housing management and support service to adults living in supported accommodation.
  • To be aware of the housing support and wellbeing needs of individual residents and ensure these needs are met by obtaining help from appropriate agencies, to enable residents to live independently.
  • This is achieved through collaborative working, the design and implementation of a personcentred support plan, and advocacy and support to ensure that the client is empowered to reach their personal goals.
  • You will be expected to help the client to develop skills and confidence, to achieve their full potential as they move forward.
  • You will act as a broker for interagency support
- signposting and referring to appropriate agencies, coordinating meetings and supporting the client to attend meetings and appointments.


Responsibilities:


Please note that this is a general description for a Support Worker role, but duties are personalised to the Service User's individual needs.

SUPPORT DUTIES:


  • To be aware of any safeguarding concerns.
  • To report, where appropriate, any safeguarding issues to the relevant team.
  • Monitor and review and, where necessary, update safeguarding meetings.
  • To be aware of the individual wellbeing of each resident by making regular face to face or verbal contact in accordance with agreed procedures.
  • To achieve a range of appropriate communication techniques in accordance with the individual needs of the person.
  • To develop and sustain warm and trusting relationships with the people we support, promoting their selfesteem, happiness and emotional health.
  • Encourage and support people in expressing their needs, views and concerns and enable them to make choices and decisions and to participate as fully as possible in planning and decision making processes.
  • Identify, monitor and review risk assessments and support needs of residents and make referrals to the appropriate statutory or voluntary agencies on behalf of the resident.
  • Liaise with the residents and personnel from Community Services, GPs, Social Workers and other agencies to participate in support planning.
  • To support individuals in learning and growing independent living skills.
  • Promote communal activities with residents encouraging maximum use of the shared facilities by the residents.
  • Where relevant support clients in undertaking training and employment opportunities.

HOUSING MANAGEMENT DUTIES:


  • Welcome new residents and introduce them to the services, facilities and emergency procedures of the scheme. Advise and instruct residents on the proper use of fixtures and fittings provided in the properties and in the shared areas.
  • Advise & assist residents with rent payments, service charges.
  • Advise and assist with claims for housing and other benefits.
  • Defuse resident conflicts and antisocial behaviour.
  • Where necessary serve appropriate warning notices.
  • Check void rooms are suitable for viewing, carry out accompanied viewings and provide feedback on the viewing.
  • Establish and maintain links with the local community, be aware of the resources available to residents within the community and encourage residents to make the scheme into a neighbourly and mutually supportive community.
  • Supervise arrangements and collect monies where necessary. Maintain accurate records of all income collected and spent and ensure all money is kept in a secure place.
  • To be responsible, as far as is practicable, for the supervision, cleanliness, safety and security of the building and shared areas and report any defects in the premises or equipment or accidents as appropriate. Follow up to ensure satisfactory and timely completion.
  • Immediately notify 'Supported Housing Manager' of any major incidents eg fire, criminal activity, breakdown of alarm, heating, loss of electric supply.
  • Work in accordance within the ethos and values of Non Violentiam CIC to develop and operate best practice.

GENERAL DUTIES:


  • Be an active member of the team, liaise and coordinate with other Team members to provide a cohesive, high quality service, participate in and contribute to Team meetings.
  • Provide support for fellow workers.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records, both manual and computerised, in line with NV procedures, regarding all aspects of service delivery for monitoring and other purposes.
